NON-HARM (HELPFULNESS/GENEROSITY)
The third intention is non-harm or non-violence. When we experience hatred, the next step is violence or harm directed towards satisfying a frustrated craving. This violence could be toward someone else, toward oneself, or toward objects. By making an intention of non-violence, we stop the outflow of destructive actions that increase our own and others' suffering and dissatisfaction. By having the opposite intention to help others and be generous, we make it much easier to avoid violence and find peaceful solutions to the problems we encounter.
SUMMARY OF LIBERATING INTENTIONS
The three liberating intentions guide all of the practices that follows. The goal of practice is to let go of craving for satisfaction in the internet, to not hate whatever blocks satisfaction, and to not commit violence to resolve frustration of craving. All of these intentions are founded in the (for now) hypothetical understanding that satisfaction of craving is impossible and that peace only comes from letting go of craving.
