THE SECOND TRUTH

back to the first truth

The second truth of awakening to the reality of the internet is this: There is a cause of the dissatisfaction we experience on the internet, and that cause is craving for permanence in the internet; craving for completion of identity or self in the internet; and craving for ultimate satisfaction in the internet.

We crave the internet because we falsely believe that the internet will complete us and satisfy us, but it can't complete us or provide us with anything that is lasting, and it only leads to more craving, more dissatisfaction, more incompleteness.

Notice this craving as you use the internet. It is always there, hand-in-hand with the dissatisfaction. You are pushing, pulling, clicking, and scrolling to the next thing, the next page, video, text, like, share--to the one digital point that satisfies, completes, and repairs the sense of brokenness and incompleteness. This is what is meant by craving.
